Well, you can design with 1024 X 768 px or even 800 X 600 px screen area since large number of users uses these screen resolutions.
Validate XHML/CSS
After you design a webpage, try to validate using http://validator.w3.org & http://jigsaw.w3.org for HTML/XHTML and CSS respectively. It’s not must before it gives you as well as visitors an assurance that it displays properly to everyone with no errors in code. Also, it looks professional.
Browser Compatible
Internet users all across uses different browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Netscape etc. So, it will be good, if you design your webpage(s) fit for all these browsers (at least first 3) by making minor tweaks. (Back)
